Welcome to my personal book blog - Brown Flopsy's Book Burrow!!
I am mad about books in all their forms - paper books, e-books and audio books.
I review books and share the bookish love. You may also see me talking about books on Twitter (X), Instagram and Threads (@brownflopsy).
I always give honest reviews of the books I have enjoyed, and the views expressed here are completely my own.
I am also a member of, and admin for, the SquadPod Collective bloggers group.

What Matters In Jane Austen by John Mullan
Read April 2018. Non-fiction.
I am an ardent Jane Austen fan.
There is a reason why her books have stood the test of time and it has lot to do with her ability to offer a commentary on the polite society she was so familiar with. She was adept at pointing out the ridiculous, and pokes fun at many of her characters.
This book covers many of the reasons why Austen's books are important, such as what she has to tell us about marriage and wealth in her lifetime, from the story lines of her books.
This is definitely more of a book for the Jane Austen fan, but could also be useful to those who do not really appreciate her genius - they may have to have it read out loud to them though! I loved it (eventhough Mr Mullan did make a factual error in the chapter about Death, but maybe he is not a super fan!).
