Welcome to my personal book blog - Brown Flopsy's Book Burrow!!
I am mad about books in all their forms - paper books, e-books and audio books.
I review books and share the bookish love. You may also see me talking about books on Twitter (X), Instagram and Threads (@brownflopsy).
I always give honest reviews of the books I have enjoyed, and the views expressed here are completely my own.
I am also a member of, and admin for, the SquadPod Collective bloggers group.

The Bridges of Madison County by Robert James Waller
Read Febraury 2018.
This is a gentle and poignant story of a photographer, Richard, who is commissioned to photograph the bridges in the title, and finds the love of his life in the process - the already married, Francesca. They enjoy a brief, but emotional relationship, during Richard's time in Madison County, while Francesca's family are absent. However, the course of true love never did run smooth and although they know they will always be as one in their hearts, they cannot be together. The affair remains a secret until after Francesca's death, when her grown children discover a letter and journal she has written.
I have seen a lot of reviews for this book and they are very mixed, but I think many readers miss the point of the story.
Richard and Francesca do not end up together, but that does not really matter. The important thing is that they met and the few days they had together were enough for them to know that they had lived and loved.
