Welcome to my personal book blog - Brown Flopsy's Book Burrow!!
I am mad about books in all their forms - paper books, e-books and audio books - they are all good to me!
I review books in their many forms - both new and old - and share the bookish love. You may also see me talking about books on Twitter and Instagram (@brownflopsy).
I always try to give honest reviews and the views expressed here are completely my own.

The Belles by Dhonielle Clayton
Read January 2018.
This is an interesting one, as it has quite an original premise. It is the start of a new YA series of books, set in Orleans, which is a bit like New Orleans, in the Deep South, but in a very different world to ours.
The Belles are much prized for their ability to control beauty, by physically transforming the appearance of people. This is a land where the people are born grey and damaged, and beauty is everything (think of this kind of beauty as that of the court of Louis XIV), so they will pay highly for the services of a talented Belle. If you cannot afford such services, you are doomed to remain ugly.
Camelia is very talented among her Belle sisters and is desperate to be chosen as "the favourite", who will provide services to The Royal Court itself.
You should always be careful what you wish for.....
I really enjoyed this debut book by Dhonielle Clayton and this is definitely a series I will be following. Book 2, The Everlasting Rose is out in March 2019.
