I review books and share the bookish love. You may also see me talking about books on Twitter (X), Instagram and Threads (@brownflopsy).
I always give honest reviews of the books I have enjoyed, and the views expressed here are completely my own.

The Cruel Prince by Holly Black
Read February 2018.
Holly Black is an established YA fantasy writer, although this is the first of her books that I have read. This book marks the start of a new series from her - The Folk of the Air.
Stolen away from their mother's mortal world, Jude, her twin sister Taryn and their half-fae half-sister Vivi have to find a way to live in the world of Fae.
Not only is the world around them strange, but they are forced to live in the household of Vivi's Fae gentry father - after he has murdered their mother and removed them from all they know. Life is not easy for the girls, especially for the mortal Jude and Taryn, and they find themselves embroiled in a Fae power struggle that could end their lives.
Holly Black weaves a world of beauty and horror surrounding the girls. How will they survive the intrigues of the Fae court? How are they destined to affect the fate of both the Fae and Humankind?
This is a crossover book between urban and high fantasy, as the Fae world exists alongside the human world, and the story takes part in both realms. It will be interesting to see how this series develops.
